Our Story

The Arlington Schools was founded in 1959 in the southwest section of Atlanta. At the time the school opened in the Ben Hill community, private education in the area was essential limited to military boarding school for boys. Arlington opened with grades 1-9 and a grade was added each year. The first graduation was in 1963.

Students were generally the children of professionals, white-collar managers or from families which owned and operated a business. Although enrollment continued to show steady growth, the Board of Directors was faced with making a significant capital improvements and renovation. Following their decision to change the location of the school, acreage was donated and a new facility opened in September 1976. A gymnasium was added the following year.

In 1986 a proposal was made to Greater Atlanta Christian Schools, and a merger was completed. From 1987 to 1994, GACS and Arlington combined their strengths to form Greater Atlanta Christian at Arlington. In an effort to more effectively meet the needs of the Arlington school family and direct its continued improvement, Arlington Christian School was formed in 1994 as a separate independent Christian school. With “Quality Education in a Christian Environment” as its motto, ACS is dedicated to training young people both in Godly principles and in academic competencies. ACS accepts students for admission without regard to race, sex, or national origin.
