Arlington Christian School launches new partnership with Microsoft

Fairburn, GA. August 13, 2013. Like many schools, the first day of school is always exciting for students and parents. The thoughts of a new year with hopes of meeting new friends, gaining an exceptional education and having exposure to new and innovative educational platforms of learning are all at the top of the list. During its Open House August 4th, Arlington’s Director of School, Joyce Price and its new Board of Trustees Chair, Dr. Leo Wheat, launched an interactive presentation from Microsoft for parents and students regarding the new program. The excitement was high as high school students learned they would each receive their own RT-Surface tablet and grades K-8th grade will have in-classroom access to the tablets for scheduled programs.

The RT Surface is a revolutionary new tablet built by Microsoft that comes pre-installed with touch-enhanced versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and pre-loaded Microsoft apps. The tablet is ultra thin, great for students and will enhance their learning. For Microsoft, Arlington Christian School is one of their first school partnerships within the South Fulton County area.

“We’re living in a technology world and believe our academic program should include more competitive offerings to students that are vital to preparation for their future career growth. While this generation is more technology-savvy than ever, our commitment to offer this partnership with Microsoft helps us to advance students exposure to technology experiences, research, programs, communications, online learning, testing and so much more!” Stated Joyce Price, Director of School.

Arlington’s administration will work with its teachers to develop special programs, homework and in-classroom initiatives where technology sessions will keep students intrigued with learning. The program will officially launch this fall and Microsoft will also provide special training sessions and certifications for teachers and staff.

“Arlington is on a positive upswing. We’re making some strategic moves across the board that better positions our students and school to succeed. This school year we have some dynamic new teachers, a lot of new programs for students and some new Board of Trustees that are very action-oriented in ensuring we excel.” stated Dr. James Davis, Chief Administrative Officer.

Since 1959, Arlington Christian School has helped young men and women to discover their inner strengths and to develop their abilities in all areas. Our goal as a school is to guide each student toward maturity in five areas: physical, academic, social, emotional and spiritual. We believe that an education that does not emphasize all of these areas is inherently incomplete.

Arlington Christian School strives to be academically strong, spiritually vital and socially aware. Our mission is, “helping children grow as Jesus did “in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.” We consider each student and family a blessing from God. If you are looking for a nurturing environment with challenging academics and a full-range of athletics and the arts, then we encourage you to experience the Arlington difference for yourself by scheduling a tour of our campus.
