It has been said that a school is four walls with the future inside. In the faces of Arlington elementary students, we can see a bright future! We want our children to be happy, to reach their full potential, to understand the meaning of excellence, and to learn the skills necessary to lead productive lives. We want them to adopt beliefs, values, and attitudes which are really important in life.

Academics

"This is an exciting time to be an Elementary student at Arlington Christian School."

High expectations set the standard for each child to maximize his or her potential. The elementary curriculum includes the basic academic courses, as well as daily Bible classes. Specialists teach Music, Physical Education, and French to all students on a regular basis. Computers are used in the classroom with emphasis on using the computer as a teaching aid. Classroom experiences are supplemented with a variety of field trips to such places as the Alliance Children's Theater, Zoo Atlanta, the State Capitol, Scitrek, Fernbank, Etowah Indian Mounds, the Little White House, and the King Center.

The Iowa Test of Basic Skills is administered each spring. Class averages on the ITBS are 1.6. Continued enhancement of academics at Arlington Christian is being fostered by the incorporation of such effective programs as McMillan's "Spotlight on Literacy" and Saxon Mathematics. This is an exciting time to be an elementary student at Arlington Christian School.

Faculty

Especially in the Elementary grades, education revolves around the interaction of the teacher with the student. WHO that teacher is as a person is as important as anything else in the educational world of Elementary children. The Elementary teachers at Arlington average over nine years of teaching experience. They are highly qualified teachers, but even more importantly, they are the type of people you would want caring for your children.

Activities

Elementary children have an opportunity to be involved in many extra activities, such as piano lessons and creative movement. All students are involved in the Christmas and Spring musical productions. Other activities such as Book Week are highlights during the year. The Golden Rule Club provides an opportunity to honor children on a bi-weekly basis for traits such as honesty and friendliness. Fifth graders attend a four-day outdoor education retreat at Rock Eagle Conference Center.
