Auxiliary Programs
Arlington has several bus/van routes serving the Southwest Atlanta area and Douglas County. Most students spend less than an hour going to or from school. For convenience, we try to arrange for pick-up points rather than picking up at individual homes. For more information on the exact bus routes, please contact Mrs. Martin at (770) 964-9871. Every effort is made to keep transportation as convenient and as inexpensive as possible. Rates may change in keeping with actual cost incurred in providing the service. The rate for 1999-2000 will be $750 for two-way service and $500 for one-way service on a no-cancellation basis. Occasional riders may purchase a bus pass from the school office for $4 a day or $2.50 one-way as needed.

A program of after-school activities is offered to ACS students enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade. This enables many working parents to leave their children at school before regular school hours and pick them up after work. The ACS Extended Care Program is licensed by the State of Georgia and complies with all government regulations; therefore, space is limited and part-time students can be accepted only if space is available. Students are supervised by ACS professional staff members in an atmosphere conducive to social play, recreation, relaxation, and study. Non-structured supervised play, rest periods, recreational/educational TV, crafts, art and other activities appropriate to grade levels and interests are offered.

To enrich the basic academic program in the lower school, specialty teachers are provided for French, Music, Art, Physical Education, Media and Computer Education. In addition to the lower school computer lab, each classroom is equipped with a multimedia computer and a range of CD-ROM programs.
All full day students are provided with a 30-minute lunch period. Students have the option of either bringing their lunch from home or purchasing the lunch from a menu provided at school. Drinks and snacks may also be purchased.
