Elementary School
Academics
This is an exciting time to be an elementary student at Arlington
Christian School. High expectations set the standard for each child to
maximize his or her potential. The elementary curriculum includes the
basic academic courses, as well as daily Bible classes. Specialists
teach music, physical education, art and Spanish to all students on a
regular basis. Computers are used in the classroom with emphasis on
using the computer as a teaching aid. Classroom experiences are
supplemented with a variety of field trips to such places as the
Alliance Children's Theater, Zoo Atlanta, the State Capitol, Fernbank
Science Museum, Etowah Indian Mounds, the Little White House, the King
Center, and Callaway Gardens.
The Iowa Test of Basic Skills is administered each spring. Class
averages on the ITBS are 1.7 years above grade level. Continued
enhancement of academics at Arlington Christian is being fostered by
the incorporation of such effective programs as McMillan's "Spotlight
on Literacy," Saxon Mathematics, and the Accelerated Reading. This is

Faculty
Especially in the elementary grades, education revolves around the
interaction of the teacher with the student. WHO that teacher is as a
person is as important as anything else in the educational world of
elementary children. The elementary teachers at Arlington average over
nine years of teaching experience. They are highly qualified teachers,
but even more importantly, they are the type of people you would want
caring for your children.
Activities
Elementary children have an opportunity to be involved in many extra
activities, such as piano lessons. All students are involved in the
Christmas and spring musical productions. Other activities such as
Book Week and Grandparents Day are highlights during the year. The
Golden Rule Club provides an opportunity to honor children on a
bi-weekly basis for traits such as honesty and friendliness. Fifth
graders attend a four-day outdoor education retreat at Rock Eagle
Conference Center and sixth graders travel to Jekyll Island for an
outdoor education experience at the Georgia coast.
