Lunch
All students are
provided with a 30-minute lunch period. Students have the option of
either bringing their lunch from home or purchasing the lunch from a
menu provided at school. Drinks and snacks may also be purchased.
Making
Lunch Payments
All lunch payments are to be paid in
advance in order for Arlington to pay food suppliers and vendors.

Important Information
The only changes on the lunch
program for the 2006-07 school year is on Tuesday. Hudson’s BBQ
has some new choices. Generally, you will receive a four (4)
week menu at the first of each month for the next month. Please
have your child look over the menu and decide what he/she would
like to order. Total up your selections and send the exact
amount in cash or by check made payable to ACS. Do not combine lunch money with any other school payment.
Please be sure your child’s name and grade is on the lunch form.
The menu will go home at the first of the week and must be in by
Thursday. I will accept them on Friday. Late forms cause
confusion and difficulty in getting accurate counts, so I
reserve the right to refuse late forms if I have already
prepared the menu for the vendors.
A calendar is stapled to the back of each form. Please use this
to keep up with the days your child orders and the days he/she
needs to bring lunch. If your lower school student (K5 - 6th)
forgets lunch, please call or have them let us know first thing
in the morning (before school if possible) so we can adjust our
lunch count.
Middle
and high school students are responsible for their lunches by
ordering on the lunch form or by bringing their lunch. If they
do not order or bring a lunch, they are welcome to wait until
everyone who ordered has been served; then, if there is enough
extra food, they can buy. Please be aware that we can not
guarantee food for middle school. We must be sure of extras for
lower school who have not yet eaten. The best way for middle and
high school students to be sure of a lunch is to make sure to
fill out the lunch form every month or to bring their lunch.
Also, there is a snack and drink machine in the cafeteria.
This year there will be no charging by students.
In the past we have allowed charging, but too many children take
advantage of this option and do not bring in payment until many
late notices are written. Also, there will be
no credits given this year if your child misses lunch,
unless written notice is given in time to cancel lunch. If you
have any questions about the method in which lunch forms are
distributed and collected. Please feel free to call
Ms. Sara Martin.
K5 thru 6th grades are not allowed to buy soft drinks or snacks from the
machines or use the microwaves at lunch.
7th thru 12th grades are allowed to use the microwaves and
snack/drink machines. The students will not have access to a
refrigerator to store lunches. They will need to bring items
that do not require refrigeration or freezing. When your child
purchases a lunch, everything required will be provided
(utensils, napkins, condiments, etc.). However, if your child
brings their lunch, please send all they will need for that
lunch. Forks, spoons, napkins, and condiments will be available
for a charge of 10 cents and red cups will cost 25 cents. If a
class is having something that requires kitchen use or
refrigeration, then the teacher will need to make arrangements.
STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE KITCHEN.
Milk, lemonade, orange juice, chips, cookies, fresh fruit and
assorted snacks will be available for students to purchase
during breaks and lunch.
The forms you are receive need to be sent back to school before
registration day (August 8th). If returned before then, you can
omit standing in the lunch line waiting for your form to be
totaled.
IT IS IMPORTANT that you inform your child of the information,
especially the importance of getting their forms home, completed
and returned to school by the due date so they will have a
lunch.
Elementary student’s forms will
go home in their folders. However, middle and high school
students are responsible for getting their forms home to you,
completed, and turned in by the due date. Lunch forms will not
be accepted under any circumstances without payment included.
That is why it is very important to discuss this letter with
your child.
Please feel free to contact Sally Ray at school, 770-964-9871,
or at home, 770-253-6310, with any questions you have concerning
the lunch program. After school begins, please contact Sara
Martin at school or home 678-423-0516 for any assistance.
Also attach your payment to form when you send it to school.
