Teacher Receives Loveday Grant
The Teacher Services Committee of the
Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) has awarded a Loveday
Foundation Summer Study Grant to Arlington Christian’s Jane Edwards.
Edwards attended a week-long Advanced
Placement English class offered in July by Oglethorpe University of
Atlanta. Mrs. Edwards said, “This is such an honor, and I look forward
to taking information back to my students at Arlington.”
A Peachtree City resident, Mrs.
Edwards’ son, Alex, is a 2006 graduate of Arlington Christian and will
be attending Georgia Tech. Her daughter, Kayla, is a rising junior at
ACS. Mrs. Edwards has taught at Arlington Christian since 1995, and
previously has been named STAR Teacher and also received the Madeline
Brownlee Teacher of the Year Award.
“Our graduates’ success in college is a
testament to Mrs. Edwards and her colleagues,” said ACS Head of School
David Wilson.
The Loveday Endowment Foundation is a
fund to benefit educators from independent member schools in Georgia.
These grants assist teachers with continuing education and/or
independent study projects which will enhance their classroom
abilities and performance. The GISA Teacher Services Committee,
composed of eight senior educators and administrators, select the
grant recipients each year. Nine GISA teachers from throughout the
state received grants for 2006.
