Strong Pitching Hallmark of Arlington Christian Teams
Softball at Arlington Christian is
underway. Full squads at the junior varsity and varsity level began
the season Aug. 15.
The Junior Varsity posted decisive wins over Trinity Christian,
Calvary Christian, Flint River Academy and Heritage. Pitchers Sara
Harper and Katie Hughes of Palmetto have claimed the pitching mound.
The Fletcher sisters, Mak and Ali, of Newnan have formed a
pitcher/catcher act and also led the team offensively. Jessica Welch
of Douglasville and Kendall Roy of Newnan have also contributed to
the team total of 64 runs scored.
Behind the pitching of Arlington senior Dallas Moroy, the Lady
Eagles have posted three wins and one loss in regular season play.
They have defeated Flint River, Griffin Christian and Faith
Christian. They were winning a game vs. Greater Gwinnett that was
shortened by rain. Besides Moroy, the young team includes only one
other senior, Jessica Rucker.
Offensive leaders include Moroy, Mak Fletcher, freshman Danielle
Swygert and Kaely Edwards, a junior veteran.
ACS Athletic Director Greg Cannon commented, With only two seniors,
our depth is coming from our underclassmen. They are improving with
every game, but there is no substitute for experience.
